Excellence

I used to think I was something,
I had something,
I needed to be seen.

And I did—
I had it all.
Yet I felt invisible, unworthy, unacknowledged.

There was no one there to see me.
Familiar sources gone.
External rewards removed.

I had to look within and
beyond, to find
God’s standard.

Excellence—
God’s standard
for me and mine and all.

We are differing forms from the same source—
the same yesterday, today, and forever.
God says, “All that I have is thine.” 1

All that He is, I am.

The “all” of excellence.
The “all” of purity, righteousness, innocence.
The “all” of affluence and satisfaction.

As I see the allness of God, I see myself.
Exterior sources don’t hold my value.
God does.

Can I accept God’s being as my own?
Can I let myself be what I am?

With much humility,
I see that
I can.
