Colorado fires–what can we do?

In Colorado, the presence of “epic fires” dominates the news. At 3:00 a.m. this morning, a friend texted, “I can smell smoke. I might need to come over.”

A miasma of emotions and viewpoints can be heard at local coffee shops: Fires are natural. Global warming is the cause. Disasters remind us of what’s really important.

But the Bible offers a higher voice that cuts through the fray. “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. . . . Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day. . . . For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways” (Psalms 91:2, 5, 11).
