A tender reminder of God's Mother-love

It’s one of the most powerful and beautiful things in the world—a mother’s love for her child. Not that dads can’t express maternal affection, too. But nothing else is so intuitive, tender, selfless, and shatterproof as pure mother love.

I was fortunate to receive a lot of it growing up. My parents divorced when I was seven, and over the next several years my mom forged a new life for herself and her three small children. Though funds were meager, she felt it would do us all good to move to the countryside outside the city where we’d been living.

Within a year, this free-spirited 32-year-old had located and purchased 20 acres of land from a farmer, built a new home on a hilltop, and given us a fresh start in a new community. All the while, Mom was working full-time, running a household, and maintaining some measure of peace between three squabbling siblings.
