A Magdalene's prayer for her practice

Originally appeared on spirituality.com

Can it possibly be true that
I have been loved enough to love others
With a generous, unobstructed heart?

This Christ-man who has commanded my attention
warrants my allegiance because in him
I find the reality of satisfaction.

How is it I have been forgiven? This is unearned love.
All the reasons for distrust, disconnect,
pretending that I needed another,

Melt before this power of Love to love
what was made from the beginning.
This excellence isn't just the first, it is the only

Thing known about me, by me, despite the dreams
of self-made, self-willed, self-deluded.
Of course, I love without measure! Because

I have been loved without measure!
The obstacles gone, the fear made fearless,
I laugh with the freedom of being myself
in Him.
