Why should'st Thou fearWhen God is near?
By ea and plain and mountain will spread the larger creed,The love that knows no border, the bond that knows no breed;

June

June , thou month of roses and fragrance sweet,When nature's offerings on every side we greet,O'er hill and dale, the wild flowers scattered free.

The Real Man

Out of all mists,Into all Light;Out of all wrong,Into the Right;Out of things false,Into the true;Out of death's clutch,Into Life new.

Three Penitents

One tarried by the gatewayTo listen for the call;One stood within the portalTo chide a faith so small;
Not what we give, but what we share—For the gift without the giver is bare;Who gives himself with his alms feeds three,—Himself, his hungering neighbor, and me.

Reflections

In discontented mood I sought the hillsAt sunset, and looked down on busy millsBelching vile smoke, which in the valley laidAn inky blot on a fair scene displayed.

Praise

BY MARY TRAMMELL SCOTT.

Gladness

If living is a joy to you,Because your soul is sound,And life seems good and sweet and trueThat you have haply found,Then sing no false and hopeless strainOf doubting and despair,But lift your voice all clear and plainAnd sing that life is fair!

Step by Step

Step by step God's love will lead me,In the way I am to go;Step by step, His Truth beside me,Change and chance I cannot know.
