THE PUBLICAN

Is there some one who comes to you todayWhom you have thought unworthy and untrue—Some one the world has judged a castaway?

COMFORT

O FLEDGLING, on a cold world thrust,Fly thou to God, since fly thou must! For He shall cover thee with His wings,And 'neath His feathers thou shalt trust.

HEAVEN

'Tis not afar in distant skiesThe shining hills of heaven rise.

TWO ROSES

A rosebud fair in a garden grew,Tiny and pale and shy.

LOVE KNOWS THE TRUTH

Love knows the truth! No sudden shaft of light,Cleaving the darkness of a sleeping world,Speeds with a swifter, surer, gladder flightTo wake the sweetness in soft petals furledThan wings Love's thought of truth.

UNITY

It is not just because our eyes are meetingIn daily converse, that we claim a friend; It is not e'en because our hearts are beatingSo near each other that our pulses blend.
