In the late 1970s, I arrived in the United States with my seven-year-old daughter to join my husband, who had already been here for three years.
Before our marriage, my future husband and I had been struggling with a problem: We had different religious affiliations and we wanted to have children, but how should they be baptized?

Yielding...but to what?

I began to find a God I could trust in, a God I would want to yield to.

A library, a book, and a new path

I had always believed in God and desired a relationship with Him, but I didn't know where to start.
I began affirming the goodness of everyone–The staff, the inmates, and me.
"Could I be healed in Christian Science?" I asked one Wednesday evening.
My feelings of hopelessness waned as I remembered that God creates us in His own image.
Two tons of baggage seemed to lift from my back.
