In the Christian Science Bible Lesson

In his introductory address last week, the Moorhouse lecturer defined Christian Science as a latter-day agnosticism, which denied the spiritual possibility of the material world, and also its reality as an object of experience.

Man and His Dominion

The first Bible statement about man is not qualified or uncertain, but definite.

"Lazarus, come forth"

He who comes to a Christian Scientist in trouble, in sickness, or in doubt, who makes a personal appeal for sympathy, does not go away with the "cold assertion, 'Nothing ails you'".

Sacrifice

The word "sacrifice" is derived from two Latin words: sacer, meaning holy, and facere, to make.

FROM OUR EXCHANGES

Christian Science is the religion of Jesus Christ, because it is founded upon and exemplifies his word and works; because in so doing, it heals both sin and sickness by one and the same spiritual method; because it gives God all power and presence and glory, and as the Science is understood and applied, it increasingly reveals the paucity, poverty, and impotence of sin and sorrow; because it relies upon neither the wit nor the wisdom of any man.
