Signs of the Times

The Spoken and the Unspoken Word

The saying that "speech is silver; silence is gold" takes on new force and new meaning in the light of the teaching of Christian Science.

Spirit

The Samaritan woman in conversation with Christ Jesus at Jacob's well advocated the world-thought prevalent at that time; namely, that God must be worshiped at some special place; but Jesus explained, for the benefit of the whole world, for all time: "Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

Place

God, Mind, is always present, just as much in one place as in another.

The Living Night

No one has to agree with Stevenson's definition of night under a roof as a dead, monotonous period.

True Living

As there is only one Mind or consciousness, all that can be known of anything must proceed from this infinite source.

The Universality of Truth

Whenever an individual expresses good in preference to evil, at that moment he is proving that man possesses his rightful inheritance and is showing how much of God he knows.

Signs of the Times

Impersonalize Evil

"Your joy no man taketh from you," so reads the Scripture.

Christian Science and Music

In the thirty-third chapter of Ezekiel this statement is made, "And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.

"The present immortality"
