The need for Christian Science Representatives in the Armed Services became apparent during World War II, because the military situation was a fluid, fast-moving one in which troops were often stationed in places where there were no branches of The Mother Church and where it was difficult or impossible to send Christian Science Ministers for the Armed Services.
The
major difficulties of men arise today mainly from their sense of incompleteness, from their belief that they need something which they do not already possess, such as money, material possessions, right companionship, proper and satisfying work, fulfillment in artistic endeavors, health, or freedom from fear.

physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation.
By
showing the individual his relationship to God as a divine idea, Christian Science supplies the answer to the world-wide problem of loneliness, often coupled with uselessness and old age.
