It is a long cry from Florence to Patmos, and there is no obvious connection between Machiavelli and Paul the apostle, yet it was the dweller in Florence of whom it was said that his citizenship was of the world, whilst it was the apostle to the Gentiles who explained the true meaning of citizenship, and the prisoner in Patmos who drew the picture of the true city, whose builder and maker is God.

The human mind assents readily to the scientific denial of the evidence of the senses, if expecting that its suffering may thereby cease.
That the theologians have always found the apparent presence of evil a hard problem, serves only to introduce the fact that until Mrs.
A report of a lecture on "The Church and Mental Healing" contains a reference to Christian Science which is likely to leave quite an erroneous impression with the reader.
The report of an address on Christian Science which appeared in The Times would make strange reading if one did not consider the many vagaries to which the human mind is subject.
Now with reference to the healing accomplished in Christian Science, in support of which the strongest kind of evidence can be produced from reputable sources, and covering every known disease or disorder,—organic, functional, malignant, or otherwise, diagnosed as such by physicians,— let it be understood that in this healing process Christian Science practitioners do not diagnose or treat disease.
It seems proper when the world is in such turmoil as it is at this time, that we consider some of the vital forces that are at work for the uplift and betterment of mankind.
