In the Biblical account of the deliverance of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego from the burning fiery furnace into which they had been cast, because of their refusal to worship the golden image, it is recorded that not only did God protect them from being consumed by the heat and the flames but when they were released at the king's command it was found that "the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
