Liberation from tyranny

One day you are living in comparative freedom; the next morning you wake to the disturbing news that the government has fallen, and you are under military rule. Sounds remote? Then, what about a gradual erosion of freedom of speech and religion through increasingly restrictive laws? Not so unbelievable? No. Tyranny can come in subtle as well as blatant forms—not just by the bullet but through unjust legislation. It wages war against man's inalienable rights.

What can we do about tyranny—whatever form it takes? We can do what our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, taught us to do. Turn to God in prayer.

But people's ideas of prayer seem to be as numerous as their ideas about God. That is why we need to consider what prayer is. Petitioning God for aid in trying times and endeavoring to love our enemies are vital. But Christian Science teaches that prayer involves more.
