When a coworker shared...
When I was in my mid-20s and very unhappy, I began questioning what life was really about—didn’t I deserve to be happy? I had begun turning to God through prayer, asking Him to guide me and reveal to me the purpose of my life. I knew there had to be something better than the inharmony I was experiencing in my marriage.
One day I was so desperate I told God that if He would reveal to me the true purpose of life, I would serve Him the best that I could for the rest of my life. Because of the discord at home, I decided it was best for me to return to the workforce, so I arranged for day-care for my five-year-old son and one-year-old daughter and began working.
In the office where I found work, I met a lady who I learned was a Christian Scientist. One Monday after an especially troubling weekend, I confided to her how unhappy I was. That was the beginning of a very wonderful friendship with this co-worker. She began sharing with me some teachings of Christian Science that seemed pretty strange to me.
