Man
I have a goodly heritage.
In ancient Israel, inheritance was often defined in terms of land. The psalmist has just specified land-associated words (portion, lot, lines; see vv. 5, 6); now he expands his praise to include God’s entire bestowal of good.
A commentary views this poem as one of trust: “The psalm teaches that trust is not merely a warm feeling or a passing impulse in a time of trouble; it . . . [opens] one’s consciousness to the Lord as the supreme reality of life.”
