Guidance from above
If you sometimes feel as though you’re flying blind in your prayers, unsure about the most effective approach to a problem, take heart. While healing prayer doesn’t involve formulas, the Bible—especially the healing record and instructions of the greatest healer, Christ Jesus—studied in the light of Christian Science, guides us to understand God and experience His perpetual tender care in health and freedom.
Think of the legacy Jesus left. He gave his students such directives for prayer as “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened” (Matthew 7:7, 8).
Asking, seeking, and finding point to our need for a genuinely honest heart that wants to know more of God. The reality of God’s all-power and ever-presence is what makes Jesus’ instructions more than words. We are being led to the truth of being—to discover something of what Jesus thoroughly knew of God, Love, and our forever-secure well-being as Love’s expression.
