Healing of appendicitis
After becoming a student of Christian Science, I came to understand that all things are possible with God. One day my teenage daughter came home from school with a medical report saying that she had appendicitis and needed immediate surgery. I made her as comfortable as possible as we prayed and considered our next steps. We had long relied on Christian Science for healing and found it to be very effective, so it was natural for us to rely on it now. Trusting in God, we expected quick and complete healing.
We started praying immediately with the spiritual truth that man is made in the image and likeness of God, as the first chapter of the Bible tells us. I knew that Christ Jesus had healed instantaneously, no matter how serious the case was, because he understood that there is no reality in evil, including disease.
The pain in my daughter’s abdomen increased, and I encouraged her to continue praying with the Lord’s Prayer while I turned to Mary Baker Eddy’s spiritual interpretation of it on pages 16 and 17 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. These lines caught my attention:
