Who am I, O Lord God?
King David is speaking here. He has just learned that, while he will not have the privilege of building a temple to God, the Davidic line is to be permanently established (see vv. 4–17). His question to God is one of deference and humility, followed by an outpouring of praise (see vv. 21–29).
Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt? And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; . . . And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
