Are Sin, Disease, and Death Real?

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. . . . For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

Even in the midst of hardship or peril, the psalmist declares, dependence on God brings deliverance. A scriptural authority reflects that the ability to trust “is not an act of human bravery or courage but a result of the conviction that the life God offers is beyond the reach of human threat.”

Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. . . . Let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. . . . See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. . . . And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
