Peace of mind in a stressful time

The current year has been one of unexpected challenges; no one seems to have escaped a trial of some sort, large or small. Yet, I’ve been finding that each trial has actually been an opportunity to experience the peace of mind that comes from feeling God’s (our Father-Mother’s) love and guiding hand.

Earlier this year my wife and I faced a challenge many travelers were encountering at the time. We were with a group in Morocco when, a week into our two-week trip, the world suddenly shut down because of fears about the coronavirus. We were informed that the trip was canceled and the borders were being closed. Our return flight to the United States had also been canceled, and the tour company spent a day trying without success to find us all alternate flights home. We were then taken to a city near the country’s main international airport in the hope that we could easily get to the airport from there and find a flight home.

As soon as I heard about the cancellations, I started praying and texted the Christian Science practitioner whom I’d earlier asked for prayerful support during our trip. Of the texts the practitioner and I exchanged, one Bible verse in particular stood out to me: “Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out” (Ezekiel 34:11). This was a powerful reminder that God was looking out for all of His “sheep” and wouldn’t leave anyone stranded.
