Depth and healing
Dear Reader,
I don’t know, dear reader, exactly what you are looking for as you read this magazine. I do know, though, what I hope you will find—inspiring ideas that lead to answers you’ve been looking for, and a solid conviction of God’s healing power.
I think of Simon, a fisherman, and two of his partners, James and John. They were discouraged because they had fished all night and caught nothing, and now they were on the shore cleaning their nets. When Christ Jesus saw them, he asked Simon to take him offshore a bit in his ship so he could preach from it to a crowd thirsting for healing. After he was done preaching, he told Simon, “Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.” He did, and so many fish were caught that he had to call James and John to bring their boat to help haul them in (see Luke 5:1–11).
The authors of articles in this Christian Science magazine have gone deep into their study of the Bible and also the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. They have “caught” spiritual ideas from God that have inspired them with new understanding and brought healing through their prayers. They hope their articles will gently lead you into the depths of divine Truth for spiritual ideas that will inspire and uplift you, bolster your prayers, and bring healing to you and others.
For those of you who are totally new to Christian Science, as well as those who yearn to be healers or better healers, we hope that the ideas so lovingly presented in these articles will impel you to dive deep into the Science of Christ for spiritual ideas that carry God’s healing power; that you will be stirred to think in new ways that take you beyond conventional ways of thinking; and that you will find healing for others as well as yourself.
We want to know: Are you finding spiritual truths clearly explained? Are you being lifted out of any discouragement that would draw you to the shore? Are you being inspired to “launch out into the deep” spiritual truths of God and man and to pray with those truths? Are you finding healing for yourself and others? This is what authors and editors hope for. Please let us know at conversation@csps.com.
