Twisted knee healed
While traveling, I was walking through an area that was under construction when I slipped off the sidewalk and wrenched my knee. Although my knee was painful and I was limping, my first thoughts were of the inspiration I had found while reading the Christian Science periodicals, the Holy Bible, and Mary Baker Eddy’s writings. The periodicals and the Bible, especially, are full of healings that came when people relied on the power of God. I hadn’t just been reading nice-sounding words, though; I had been considering and learning practical truths about man’s uninterrupted relation to God. I knew I could rely on those truths and be healed.
I claimed my God-given dominion over injury and pain. I refused to entertain negative predictions and “what if” thoughts: What if I can’t walk on my vacation? How long will this take to heal? What if I’ve really hurt myself? Will I need surgery to fully recover?
I countered those fears with spiritual facts such as, We are all God’s ideas, His children, right now. We don’t have to wait for this to be true. As it states in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy, “Man is by no means a material germ rising from the imperfect and endeavoring to reach Spirit above his origin” (p. 246).
