Alarming condition cured

I would like to share a testimony that illustrates the power of Christ, Truth, to overcome physical difficulties in a way that the human mind cannot explain.

A few years ago an alarming situation arose with my ability to eliminate. This hindrance of bowel movements was accompanied by a feeling of abnormal digestive movement. A Christian Scientist knows that fear is an element of all disease, and that the first object of any prayer is to calm fear to the point of its extinction. So I prayed earnestly to subdue fear and acknowledge God’s all-power.

After a week of praying on my own and seeing no apparent progress, I called a friend who is an experienced Christian Scientist for help. This person agreed to support me by providing Christian Science treatment. For my part, I refused to be hypnotized by the discouraging physical evidence into believing that this condition was real or true. Christian Science reveals the mental nature of all disease and discord, so I knew that this condition could be dealt with instantly and effectively through the “Science of mental healing,” as Mary Baker Eddy called it in her textbook on Christian Science healing, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (p. 455).
