Grief and symptoms of heart condition healed
Several years ago my mother passed on, and I flew down to South Africa immediately upon hearing the news. We had been very close, and I was grateful that I was strong enough to conduct her funeral service and to comfort those who needed comforting. The service felt very much like a celebration of her life, and I didn’t feel any sense of grief at the time.
However, about eight months later, after I was back in the United States, I became mesmerized by the human circumstances that resulted in my mother’s passing, and I experienced what appeared to be the symptoms of a heart attack. What this uncovered was an unconscious desire to join her.
It was my mother who had introduced me to Christian Science as a child and enrolled me in the Christian Science Sunday School, although she didn’t actively practice Science herself. But she appreciated it, and when she had a problem she would ask me to pray for her, and she experienced some significant healings. Although we later lived thousands of miles from one another, we stayed in touch and would talk for about an hour every week by phone.
