Talking or doing?
I sat there staring at the steep hill in front of me. The hill-climbing dirt bike was sputtering under me, as bike engines tend to do at low idle speed. The dirt track led upward in what seemed a near-vertical climb, daring me to make my move—but I hung back.
My dilemma had started a week earlier. I was a Christian Science Sunday School teacher working with a teenage class, and it seemed that every week I was the one learning lessons. Not a bad thing, but not what I had envisioned when I volunteered to teach.
As the class discussed the Bible Lesson for the week, we talked about handling fear. One boy, about 16 years old, had shared with the class that he wanted to do some hill climbs on his dirt bike but had become fearful. He wondered if truly understanding God as Jesus understood Him could help overcome fear.
