Arm and leg pain gone
As I share this healing, my heart is full of gratitude to God for the efficacy of Christian Science. One Saturday in February 2007, I was busy the whole day at home, cooking, dusting, and doing some work I had brought from my office. Since I was First Reader of my Christian Science Society, I then went to the home of the Second Reader to practice reading that week’s Christian Science Bible Lesson. I also practiced hymn singing with our violinist. I was about to call it a day, and was ready to sleep, when I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my right arm. I immediately started praying and repeated “the scientific statement of being” from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy (see p. 468). After a while, I felt as if I had no strength in my arm, and a similar pain began in my right leg also. At that point I requested metaphysical treatment from a Christian Science practitioner (who is also a family member). Then I felt that I was losing strength in my right leg, too. I was filled with fear of some serious sickness, but I countered that with the thought of God’s all-powerful love.
For some time before this, I had been very concerned about discord in our church and in another branch church in India. I had been praying with the truth that good cannot be attacked and that the Cause of Christian Science cannot suffer, but I was still deeply impressed with the belief of evil. I shared this concern with the practitioner, and he encouraged me to “have more faith in the truth of being than we have in error, ... more faith in God than in man …” (Science and Health, p. 368). As I prayed, denying that pain could be real, some words from Hymn No. 134 came to mind:
