Would you rather talk than write?
This article originally appeared as an Editors’ Table blog on JSH-Online.
Some people love to write, and others would rather share their stories and healings verbally. And that’s OK!
Maybe you have a great speaking voice, or perhaps your stories come alive when told out loud. If so, then we, The Christian Science Journal and Sentinel staff, would like to hear from you. In my job as audio producer for the Journal and Sentinel, I just love recording podcasts for JSH-Online.com and hearing individuals tell how they’ve been healed or what unique insights about Christian Science they’ve gained. Hearing individuals share these ideas in their own voice brings a fresh way of looking at things.
The Christian Science Journal offers two audio podcasts—“Putting it on Record” and “MBE [Mary Baker Eddy] Mentioned Them.”
“Putting it on record” includes interviews with Christian Scientists, including Christian Science practitioners and teachers. You’ll hear fresh ideas on a variety of topics as well as healings that “put on record the divine Science of Truth” (Mary Baker Eddy, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 353 ).
Our “MBE Mentioned Them” podcast is inspired by the book Mary Baker Eddy Mentioned Them, which was published by The Christian Science Publishing Society. In her published writings, Mary Baker Eddy mentioned over 180 individuals. Some are well-known historical figures, such as Ptolemy, Jahr, Polycarp, Louis Agassiz, Florence Nightingale, and others are not so well known. In this podcast we hear from Christian Scientists from a wide range of backgrounds—from mathematicians and astronomers to historians and philanthropists. Each contributor shares his or her own research and reflections about these people, and Mary Baker Eddy’s mention of them in her writings.
The Christian Science Sentinel also offers two audio podcasts—“News of Healing” and “What is a Sentinel?”
In the “News of Healing” podcast, you’ll hear how the study and practice of Christian Science has brought health, restoration, peace, joy, and abundance to people’s lives.
In “What is a Sentinel?” podcast, Christian Scientists explain what it means to them to be a “sentinel,” and to “keep watch.” Each guest tells from their own experiences how their prayers about the mission of the Sentinel magazine have helped them in their practice of Christian Science. Subscribers can listen to these podcasts by going to JSH-Online.com and then clicking on the “audio” tab.
If you’d like to record an interview or an essay for one of these podcasts, feel free to e-mail your ideas to: polatinr@csps.com. (Please provide your contact information and the podcast you’d like to record. I’ll get in touch with you shortly after I receive your e-mail.)
Sharing your insights and testimonies verbally certainly helps to cement the good that has already come into your life, and can also bring inspiration and healing to others. We look forward to hearing from you!
