GoVerse—getting the Word out
What if there was an easy way to find and share inspirational quotes from the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy’s writings from your cellphones and mobile devices? That’s the idea behind “GoVerse”—a free app developed by TMC Youth, designed with youth in mind.
As its name suggests, GoVerse is all about inspiration on the go. With the flick of a finger, users explore a collection of over 1,300 inspirational quotes from the Bible and Mrs. Eddy’s writings organized by youth topics, including “Academics,” “Competition,” “Decisions,” “Friends,” and dozens more. Swipe left or right on your screen to reveal new quotes; up and down reveals beautiful photo backgrounds from around the world.
GoVerse lets you store your favorite quotes and share them with others via e-mail, Facebook, and Twitter. Users can also browse Bible favorites like the Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes, and the Lord’s Prayer—and other collections including “Jesus’ Healings” and “Psalms”—compiled with Sunday School students and teachers in mind. And, in partnership with the editorial team at my Bible Lesson, GoVerse includes “Bible Discoveries”—fun threads of Bible history and insights into Scriptural words and events.
But the best thing about GoVerse is not the technology behind the app, but the community that is at the heart of it. “GoVerse is gathering a truly global community together around the inspired Word every day,” says TMC Youth’s creative team. “The GoVerse collection keeps growing as more and more users send in new quotes” (a feature included with the app).
The word of God continued to advance and gain adherents.
—Acts 12:24, New Revised Standard Version
TMC Youth invites Sentinel readers to “Help get the Word out!” by using GoVerse and recommending it to others. It’s available as a free download at Apple’s App Store and the Android marketplace so millions of people now have access to it. So far, GoVerse has served up almost a million quotes to its users in the six months since the app was released. And, if you don’t have an Apple or Android device for downloading GoVerse, don’t worry: it’s coming soon to the web at TMC Youth’s website, time4thinkers.com/goverse.
