Healing of burns and tachycardia
First printed in El Heralo de la Ciencia Cristiana, the Spanish edition of The Herald of Christian Science.
There was a time in my life when I felt very discontented. I suffered from anxiety and was looking for answers. At one point it seemed that I was in a dark tunnel without an exit. I was advised to seek professional help and I did, but to no avail. In this state of anguish, one morning I opened the windows of my house, knelt down, raised my arms, and reached out to God, praying again and again: “Dear God, please hear me. I want You to be my psychologist, my psychiatrist, my advisor, my doctor, my friend, my everything.”
Days later I became acquainted with Christian Science at a lecture. There I was given two issues of El Heraldo de la Ciencia Cristiana, and the first thing that caught my attention was the statement on many pages that God is All-in-all. This really struck me. From then on I started studying the book Science and Health and began my journey toward a life filled with light and purpose. I went from believing that men and women were condemned to suffering and abandoned to fate, to a more spiritual understanding of God’s pure, perfect, and satisfied creation. The change in my thinking was remarkable.
One night, months later, I experienced strong heart palpitations. I’d often suffered from tachycardia. I was sitting up in bed with my hand on my chest, when I remembered I had been boiling some water in a pot. I went to the kitchen and saw that the water had reached a rolling boil. Eagerly, I picked up the pot by its two handles and somehow overturned it, spilling the water on my hands.
