ANYONE CAN BE A HEALER

ADVENTURES IN THE HEALING PRACTICE

DURING MY 25-YEAR CAREER in children's literature, I'd encouraged children to become lifelong readers. I was a librarian. I also started a periodical that reviewed children's books, wrote a newspaper column, and gave talks at state and national reading conferences.

Those fulfilling activities kept pace with my study and practice of Christian Science. Many times I relied on prayer for strength and wisdom along the way, especially when I needed courage to stand in front of large groups and give presentations.

When I relocated to a different area of the country, I suddenly had lots of time on my hands. Although I loved what I'd been doing, my intuition told me that making new contacts in my field and applying for new positions weren't the right things to do. At the same time, I was increasingly drawn to devoting my efforts to the public practice of Christian Science healing. Family members and friends had asked me to pray for them before, and I truly loved participating in this healing activity. So I welcomed the idea of being available to take cases from the public.
