SKIN GROWTH HEALED
For many years I'd noticed a small dry spot on my lower shin. But as it wasn't painful and wasn't noticeable to anyone else, I didn't give it another thought. Then a couple of years ago, two women I work with teaching sewing told me about similar spots on their skin that had darkened. Both had these spots surgically removed.
While these two women were keeping us all informed on their progress, I noticed one day that the spot on my shin had become much larger and darkened. I remember thinking at the time that I'd better get serious and pray about this. I knew what my colleagues had been through, and I knew that taking a medical course of action was not my choice. I'd been brought up in Christian Science from a very young age, and had learned to rely completely on God in any situation. And I wanted to depend on God's healing power with this challenge also. I was convinced that God is Love, impartial and universal, and that therefore Love is All.
Specifically, I prayed to understand more fully something I'd been taught in Christian Science—that man, meaning all of us, is a child of God, who is wholly good, and that therefore we are His image, as stated in the first chapter of Genesis in the Bible. I knew that God is Spirit. Therefore as His likeness, I, too, was spiritual—made up of His ideas, which can never be less than perfect.
