THROUGH A SPIRITUAL LENS

IMAGES OF LIGHT

This week we've invited four photographers to share their favorite seasonal photographs, taken in various part of the world.

Photojournalist Paul Shippey, who lives in Boulder, Colorado, took his picture in South Africa on Christmas Eve last year. It was a warm summer evening with a full moon rising over the Indian Ocean at Sheffield Beach, northeast of Durban. "You couldn't help thinking about the wonder of it all," he said."On a beautiful night like this it was easy to relate to the Psalmist's call, 'Sun and moon, and all of you bright stars, come and offer praise' (Ps. 148:3, Contemporary English Version)."

Cameron Martindell of Sammamish, Washington, says his shot of Emily Peak overlooking McKenzie Lake along the Routeburn Track, on New Zealand's South Island, inspires lessons from nature. He's realized that "the ability to reflect great and noble ideas comes from an ability to remain calm. Patience helps one sustain that calm through even the most trying of circumstances."
