HEALED OF HEAD COLD THROUGH PRAYER

Recently I awoke with all the symptoms of a heavy cold. I had experienced this same kind of sickness before, and usually it went from bad to worse. I was upset. But I thought to myself, "No! Not this time." Not long before this, I'd started studying Christian Science.

Even though I'm still brand new, I was confident that I knew how to heal this through prayer. I knew better than to think that this sickness was any real part of me, since it wasn't a part of God. So I prayed, as I'd learned to do in Christian Science. But at first, instead of getting any better, I began to feel worse as the day went on, and I started to get really fearful.

I quietly continued to pray, however, saying the 23rd Psalm, since it had always comforted me as a child. Even as I prayed, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want," I was tempted to think that my prayer wasn't working, because I wasn't feeling any better. Then I turned to the spiritual interpretation of this psalm, which Mary Baker Eddy gave in Science and Health (p.578). It reads:
