ONLY ONE CAUSE

I'd been struggling for a few days with an unpleasant irritation in my throat, which then developed into a troublesome cough.

My first efforts at healing this just involved praying not to cough in church the following Sunday, when I'd be standing in front of the congregation in my post as Reader. And I'm grateful to say that I succeeded in that. But after that came a night where I was coughing almost incessantly and hardly got any sleep at all. Trying to be helpful, my husband put a box of pills on my night table the next evening and asked me to take some. But this was not the path I wanted to choose. Instead, I wanted to be healed in Christian Science.

At first I thought about sleeping in another room that night. But then the thought came that if I didn't cough, disturbing my husband was no longer an issue. I knew this difficulty could be healed for good through prayer. I started to pray even more seriously. This meant turning my focus away from the physical difficulty and, instead, looking completely to my FatherMother God.
