The Institute For Research on Unlimited Love is a new, non-profit organization at the School of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. In speaking of his involvement, its president, Dr. Stephen Post, notes, "Although trained in religious ethics, theology and moral philosophy, my journey has taken an expanding integrative path that began with interdisciplinary humanities, moved even further into the domain of biotechnology, and now culminates in the establishment of a research institute on love at the interface of science, religion, and practice.
"The Institute for Research on Unlimited Love is devoted to progress in the scientific understanding and practice of such remarkable phenomena as altruism, compassion, and service. The institute offers the following definition of unlimited love: The essence of love is to affectively affirm as well as to unselfishly delight in the well-being of others and to engage in acts of care and service on their behalf; unlimited love extends this love to all others without exception and in an enduring and constant way."
