HOW GOD HELPED US!

All is well

One day I had a fever, and a headache and stomachache.

My mother lay down by my side. She told me that God loved me that and He did not create me to suffer.

I asked her, “If God loves me, why am I feeling all this pain?”

She explained that God did not make sickness, and that I didn't need to believe in it. I accepted that. So I held on to the truth that God created me perfect. He loves me.

Then my mother asked if I would like her to sing a hymn to me. She sang one that was written by Mary Baker Eddy. We sing it in Sunday School. There's a line that says, “...fear no ill, — since God is good...,” (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 207). I thought about this. And that thought helped me a lot.

The following day I was well. And I went back to school.

My tooth

I had a healing on the 3rd of July. That night, we had some friends over. My friend's mother was reading Harry Potter to us.

All of a sudden, my tooth started to hurt really, really bad. Then my mom came in, and I told her my tooth hurt. So she took me in her room and said: “You are perfect because you are God's child. You're God's likeness, which means you're like God! Can God have a hurt tooth?”

And I said, “No.” Because I knew that God is all good.

And then she said, “Neither can you.”

Mom let me go back and listen to the story. While I was listening, she was praying for me. About 45 minutes later my tooth felt better.

Then I went into my room. I said, “Thank you, God, for making my tooth feel better.”

God healed me of a swollen knee

A couple of years ago I was playing street hockey with my neighbor. I slipped on the puck and fell over. My knee began to hurt, and I couldn't straighten my leg. So we went inside.

This happened when I was staying with my neighbors. My parents were away for the weekend. But I knew God was with me and was taking care of me.

When my parents got back the next evening, I told them about what had happened to my knee. My mom said to me that even when she and my dad were away, I had never been separated from my real Father-Mother, who is God.

My knee was getting back to normal size. But then at school, a boy kicked it in a game of soccer. It got very swollen and hurt a lot. The next morning I could not straighten my leg at all, and I got very worried. I stayed home from school, and we called a friend to pray for me. I read lots of the articles for kids in the Christian Science magazines.

I realized that I was worried because we were moving to another country. And I didn't want to go. So my mom and dad talked to me about not being afraid, because God has only good in store for everyone. My mom prayed for me. She knew that God would help me not be afraid of leaving all my friends.

After she prayed for me, I began to feel better. From then on, I wasn't worried about moving, because I knew God loved me and was with me wherever I went.

Also, the swelling of my knee went away completely, and I was able to play soccer and go to school again.

Nothing is last with God

My family and I had flown to Sri Lanka. We'd been really looking forward to it for a long time, and we were ready for the trip. But right off, the very first evening, I had a shock. I was all set to put my retainers in my mouth — but I couldn't find them anywhere. I dumped out all the stuff in my backpack and searched through everything. In tears, I had to tell my parents I couldn't find my retainers.

A little later, as I was lying in bed, still crying, I thought about who I really was. I was not a person who forgets things. God didn't make me like that. God made me perfect. And God would never give me problems I couldn't solve. God would never let anything bad happen to me.

A couple of days later, my dad and I drove over to the airport in Colombo, to ask if someone had found my retainers. Our taxi driver was very helpful. He waited a long time for us in his cab. He also made phone calls for us. But we still couldn't find my retainers. I kept thinking that nothing could get lost with God. I also remembered reading this: “Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need” (Science and Health, p. 494).

At the end of our vacation — the very day we left — I got my retainers back. They had been found when the plane we flew in was cleaned. And someone set them aside for us. I am so thankful for the way God takes care of us.

The blister was gone

My name is Facundo, and I am 10 years old. Like my brothers and sisters, I have had many healings.

The other day, I had a very painful blister in my mouth, which hurt very much. It was hard for me to eat. I prayed to understand that God made me perfect. I remembered that IB God loved me. I was His child and He would not give me anything that hurts.

I talked with my mom. She was also praying,

Then I went to my Sunday School, and I told my teacher about it. We read a story from the Bible that helped me understand that God protects me all the time.

That same night, when I was talking with my mom, I realized the blister was gone.

In the middle of a storm

We were driving home one night in a big storm. Suddenly there was lightning, and the branch of a tree came down in front of our car. My mom stopped the car just in time.

There was one car behind us and another one driving toward us. They were going very fast. I was afraid for a minute that they flag would hit us. But then my mom said: “God is right here, right now. We are not alone.” So I felt all right.

Mom started honking our horn and flashing the car lights. And the other cars slowed down. We were able to go into someone's driveway and turn around. Some men came to see if we were all right. Then we went home another way.

Afterward we went to see Grandma and told her what had happened. I said, “Gram, God was in front of the car!”
