New Year's Day—every day

It Wasn'T A Big Job , but there were last-minute changes, and it was now past deadline for the printer. The type-setting manager, a friend of mine, was visibly agitated. You could hear it in his voice. His normally calm demeanor had fled. The changes were not his fault, and he was becoming more and more frustrated by the minute.

As he opened the file drawer to pull the job file, I noticed that he paused for a few seconds. He didn't say anything and neither did I. Then he pulled the file, closed the drawer, and smiled. "We'll do it right away," he said calmly. His composure had returned.

It was a remarkable change. He later told me that in that moment he had realized that he would not be able to solve the problem until he regained his self-control. So he made a conscious decision to clear the resentment and resistance he was feeling and to let God's infinite patience rule his life instead. It took only a few seconds, but its effect that afternoon was immense.
