Get real
You can't escape God's love.
HER HUSBAND WAS out of town, the baby had been a handful all day, the sink backed up after dinner, and when she stepped out later that night to walk the dog, freezing rain began streaming down. As she trudged down the block feeling sorry for herself, the wet and cold seemed a barometer of her misery.
Then she thought: "Get real!" She took this as a wake-up call to consider the situation in the way she'd learned through studying Christian Science. Reality isn't what the physical senses report. It isn't defined by the circumstances of the moment. Reality has to do with God and the universe He made and governs. Reality is what's spiritual and right.
So to my friend, "get real" meant reassessing her situation from the standpoint of God's care for her. It meant starting from the basis that God is supreme and always present, transforming human consciousness and life.
