Spirituality in sports is not a contradiction in terms. Spirituality is as natural and useful in sports as it is in business, the arts, entertainment, and in religion. Spirituality is a universal, present fact of life, and it may ultimately be seen as the athlete's best friend. It generates the highest thoughts and acts for men and women. It is of God, who is Spirit. Spirituality pours its resources into the actions of the athlete-in individual and team sports. Being aware and receptive to it is the only requirement. Spirituality understood, even a little, prevents or heals injuries, enhances performance, cultivates a higher sportsmanship (on and off the field), and takes competition to a higher level of achievement and goodness.
This collection of articles, from the Christian Science Sentinel and The Herald of Christian Science, tells how this happens. On your mark, get set, read!
