Schizophrenia healed through prayer

As a child I was brought up in a home with a devoted Christian Scientist as a mother. After having a promising career, I married a co-worker and subsequently left the work force to raise a family. It seemed that one problem after another confronted us.

I ended up in a hospital and seemed able to function properly only by taking medication prescribed by a concerned family doctor. I was frustrated with my inability to heal the condition, which had been diagnosed as schizophrenia, but a dear friend who was a member of the local Christian Science Society urged me to continue my study of and search for the truth. This was not an instantaneous healing, but is one through which I learned to take a stand for Christian Science as a practical healing method

The doctors told me that I would have to rely on medication for the next twenty years. I had been studying Christian Science for as long as the doctors had studied medicine, however, and I felt that it was time I took a stand for my commitment. I released the two doctors from all responsibility for my case in order to rely on my firm belief that God would heal me, and would do so without medication.
