Within and beyond the compass of the city walls
Anxiety on the eastside,
insecurity on the westside,
oppression on the northside,
disorientation on the southside.
The enemy surrounded me.
What was happening to my city?
Climbing the citadel
of loyalty
I repair patiently
the walls of my faith.
This is profiting from adversity.
In the midst of torment
Truth and Love wake me one night
to say I am already, have always been
within the gates—
within the walls of God's protection.
Then, no reason to be worry-tight.
I discover Mind's strength
and I am fortified.
Beyond the city walls lie
pastures of gratitude—
I am free, immune from danger.
This is the joy of spiritual discovery.
