FOR CHILDREN

The good news story about you

Did you know there is a very important "news story" going on about you all the time? It is the "story" of who you really are—God's perfect, spiritual idea. The Bible tells us that we are God's children, made in His image. That means we express Him. Since God is completely good, with no mistakes, His children must also be completely good, with no mistakes. This is how we really are. The first chapter of Genesis ends with the statement "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good" (1:31).

Christ Jesus knew very clearly the good news about everyone—that we are all God's children, and that God's children are forever good. And he proved this through his healing works. The books in the Bible that tell about Jesus' experiences are called the Gospels. The word gospel means "good news." Jesus never believed news that said someone was sick or dying or bad, because he trusted God—not the physical senses—for the news about man in any situation. Jesus saw the claims of sickness or sin around him as unreal, untrue, and that is how he was able to heal.

If we're striving to follow what Jesus taught us, we need to make sure we are only trusting the good news from God. Remember, the good news is that you are God's child, made in His image, so you must be spiritual and perfect, since God is Spirit and He is perfect. Thinking about what's spiritual and true in our hearts and in our lives makes us able to get rid of wrong, mistaken views about man as sick, afraid, or naughty.
