How to delete harmful thoughts

Through spiritual growth we see that only those thoughts and desires that lead to love, purity, health, holiness, and a sense of man's completeness have a rightful place in our consciousness. Holding to such pure thoughts and desires brings practical healing to sinful inclinations and physical ailments. But this requires diligent watchfulness.

I've gained a helpful insight into this kind of watching through, of all things, my computer! Whenever I use the computer, I enjoy the helpful function the delete key performs. There may be one word, a sentence, a paragraph, or even more that needs to be erased to make way for clearer communication of an idea. Using this key, I make the correction almost immediately. The faulty thought is deleted and the correct idea inserted in a matter of seconds.

I never think of an error once it is removed, and it cannot reproduce itself on the screen. I don't wonder what caused it, where it went, or if it will reappear. The need for correction is recognized, the error is "deleted," the correct idea is inserted, and the work at hand proceeds.
