My first Christian Science healing was published in The Christian Science Journal; it told how I was healed quickly, completely, and permanently of what was pronounced incurable asthma. Many other healings have followed.
One time I was doubled up in pain. The thought came that this was appendicitis, and that I couldn't fool around, but must go for an operation right away. I did resolve not to fool around but to have the best physician, and that was God. A Christian Science practitioner prayed for me, and another quick, complete, and permanent healing came through total reliance on God.
A severe challenge came when I was told I had a blood disease. This hit me hard, and it took sincere study to conquer my fear and doubt. In Science and Health I read, "His true flesh and blood were his Life; and they truly eat his flesh and drink his blood, who partake of that divine Life" (p. 25). This refers to Jesus. Life, with a capital L, stands for God, the source of all purity. I saw that the substance of blood was not a liquid in the veins and arteries, but the idea of purity and wholeness. This concept was never contaminated. As God's expression, I was pure and whole. I am so thankful to God for bringing me spiritual understanding; I was healed.
