One day a financial broker notified me that certain bonds...
One day a financial broker notified me that certain bonds had been called for redemption and asked that I deliver them to his office. On examining my safe-deposit box, I discovered the bonds were not there. When I notified him that the bonds were missing, I was assured that they were not in the broker's possession, nor was there any record of their location.
The bonds were of considerable value, and anyone could have cashed them in who found them. I made a further search in vain. It then dawned on me that I had a formidable problem to solve through prayer.
I had just read an article from Unity of Good by Mrs. Eddy entitled "There is no Matter" (p. 31), as well as this statement from Science and Health: "Metaphysics resolves things into thoughts, and exchanges the objects of sense for the ideas of Soul" (p. 269). I realized therefore that I was not really searching for bonds but rather for the ideas or thoughts they represented.
