Work for you

What most of us want isn't just to stay busy but to find work that brings meaning and purpose to life.

The new graduate wonders if he can find the perfect job. Someone who already has a job thinks it menial and lacking in opportunity. Someone else may not have a job at all. And people who have retired from a busy career may wonder about their usefulness. Christian Science can help anyone who wants to feel useful and needed.

It is right to want to utilize fully the talents one has, not only to benefit oneself but to help others. If we think of our work less in terms of hours and paychecks and more in terms of the good we do, we'll begin to see just how fundamentally spiritual our approach to employment can be. This is because our genuine ability to do and be good isn't accurately defined by human intellect or ability. It's dependent on understanding and proving the nature of our relationship to God.

In reality, man is God's expression, the very proof of His existence. In this sense, man is always completely employed as the manifestation of God's presence, as the reflection of divine Mind. In Isaiah we read, "Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord." And further on, "This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise." What would be known of an event's occurrence without witnesses to it?
