The most wonderful part of a Christian Science healing to me...
The most wonderful part of a Christian Science healing to me is the spiritual growth it brings. A few years ago I was in much need of such growth. I was suffering from a stomachache, loss of appetite, and blackouts. For a few days I prayed sporadically and read some articles in the Christian Science periodicals, but I never really expected a healing, even though I had known of Christian Science for some time. I thought the problem would just go away. Finally I decided to ask for prayerful help from a Christian Science practitioner.
The stomachache went away, but my throat began to hurt. It was difficult to swallow and I had trouble sleeping. I was very frightened by the symptoms and kept wondering what diagnosis a doctor might make. My mother very lovingly told me that, of course, I could go to a doctor if I wished, or I could rely on Christian Science. I chose Christian Science and called the practitioner again.
At one point I was house-sitting for friends. I spent the first night sitting up, reading the Christian Science periodicals, and trying to pray. The next night I was even more anxious. Suddenly I remembered a sentence I had read that day while studying Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I looked it up and read (p. 527), "Man is God's reflection, needing no cultivation, but ever beautiful and complete."
