We used to have fun in school putting our complete address on our homework: Name; Street (Apt. No.); City; County; State; United States; North America; Western Hemisphere; Earth; Solar system; Milky Way galaxy; Universe. With apologies to Thornton Wilder, Our Town: A Play in Three Acts (New York: Franklin Watts, Inc., Publishers, 1966), p. 45 . The teacher was bound to be impressed with such attention to detail!
But where do we really live? Some might answer that we live in the body. Wherever we go, that's where we seem to be living. Then, where in the body is our identity? Many people would point to the brain, presumably the origin of thought.
Yet thought and identity have never really been found in the brain nor in the body as a whole. The Bible turns us in a completely different direction. Before the sophisticated Athenians, Paul spoke of God as a loving Father in a very special way: "In him we live, and move, and have our being." Acts 17:28.
