Over two years ago, while visiting a distant city, I fell and injured my arm and shoulder. When we returned to our hotel, my friend called a Christian Science practitioner for me, to ask for treatment through prayer. She told the practitioner that there appeared to be broken bones. The practitioner's message to me was from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 124): "Adhesion, cohesion, and attraction are properties of Mind."

Soon the intense pain and shock ceased. I slept peacefully, and in the morning I made the plane trip alone to my home in Florida.

After reaching home, I was reminded of this statement by Mrs. Eddy (Science and Health, pp. 401-402): "Until the advancing age admits the efficacy and supremacy of Mind, it is better for Christian Scientists to leave surgery and the adjustment of broken bones and dislocations to the fingers of a surgeon, while the mental healer confines himself chiefly to mental reconstruction and to the prevention of inflammation. Christian Science is always the most skilful surgeon, but surgery is the branch of its healing which will be last acknowledged." I decided to have the arm and shoulder set.
