Some years ago I was seriously ill with what was diagnosed as an early stage of tuberculosis. A doctor told me I would have to have continuous bed rest for a long time. I was away from home and alone, and I was afraid of being sent to a sanitarium.

A friend, seeing my need, told me Christian Science could heal me. Later that same day I obtained a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I had no interest in the book whatsoever, but my friend was so sincere about recommending it that I decided to read it.
